It seems we’re always searching for answers. Do we find the right answers? More importantly, when we do, are we happy with them? The truth is, happiness comes from within - the situation you’re in won’t matter as long as you’re happy with it.

More often than not, we make decisions that may seem right at the time - but don’t prove to do much for us after a while. Making mistakes along the way is inevitable. We gamble as we go on, hoping the odds will be in our favor. What if they’re not? Here’s the correct answer – it’s completely okay even if they aren’t. You can roll the dice again. You are in control. You get to call the shots. So, start over!

If you chose the wrong degree to pursue or are stuck at a job, you’re not happy with – what do you do? Oftentimes we carry on. But that won’t help you find peace. Imagine going to a job that sucks the life out of you, only so you can keep paying your bills! As scary as it may sound, if what you do doesn’t give you happiness, quit it, and start over to find something that makes you happy. Don’t be afraid of losing time, don’t fret over what people will think, and most importantly – don’t settle for less!

3 Ways You Can Start Over

Starting over can be intimidating, but here are a few ways you can take to reboot your life as per your desires.

Get Perspective

Society commands that we be put in a box. Each with a different label. We, at times, start believing in those labels. How about ripping them off and climbing out of the box? Stop thinking about your life from other people’s perspectives. Find your ground and explore what capabilities you hold.

Sit back and think for a while – should you quit your 9-5 and travel the world? Ask yourself questions that only you have the answers to. Not only will starting over help you grow emotionally, but it also leads you to genuine happiness. That is your step one to start over.

Identify Challenges

After you’ve discovered what it is that you want to do with your life, make a list of the hurdles that you’ll potentially face. If you want to quit your job and travel, think of the obstacles that you might face. “Do I have a passport?” “What is my budget?” Knowing about challenges that may rise gets you prepared for the unforeseen future. This way, you can also create solutions to overcome those problems and won’t be de-motivated to start over – you had them coming!

Find an Opportunity

Welcome to step number three. You are successfully halfway through starting over your life. Look for an opportunity that enables you to reboot. Here’s a better idea – create an opportunity if you can’t find one. Think of finding a new opportunity and starting over as a healthy alternative to living an otherwise unhealthy life just because you made a bad judgment in the past. That new opportunity will bring with it new avenues that will lead you to a path of tranquility.

Conclusion

It is natural to feel afraid when you have to start over. But know that it’s the answer you’re looking for. Don’t believe that just because you aren’t good at what you’re currently doing, you’re a failure, and please don’t let people push you into believing it.

Getting a re-do only makes you stronger. As you have the knowledge and the wisdom to know what mistake you won’t make this time. No amount of start overs makes you weak. Change is inevitable – how flexible you are with the change identifies who you are. Don’t be afraid. Go ahead and do it – start over!
